slow down

We are used to stay focus on moving forward. Sometimes it is good to slow down and turn back.
then you can see this:
Somewhere around Sakturia, looking Triopetra

beach walking

The distance 10 km between Kokkinos Pyrgos - Agia Galini can be changed into ca. 5-6 km.
Just give up the road and a car,
take solid sneakers or trekking sandals, big bottle of water and go via pebble beach.
It took me ca 55 min from Kokkinos Pyrgos. However i took off from Tymbaki
and all together was 1hr 38min.
BTW, i met some naked men and couples on the way.
Some Greeks later explained me that the east fo the village, wild beach "on the left" from Agia Galini is "unwritten" nudists beach since years. Good to know.
Kokkinos Pyrgos beach promenade. Far away white houses of Agia Galini

Stones, stones, rolling stones, pebbles and just z little sand

Even during holiday some tourists like to stay busy and creative.

Forfitter on the beach.

More shelters.

Ryanair! Easyjet! We wanna fly to Crete and back all year long!!

Brit ex-pats established a petition:
Petition Easyjet and Ryanair for year-round flights to Crete

To easyJet and Ryanair  - it is TIME to start winter flights to Crete.

Crete makes an ideal all year round holiday destination yet there are NO direct flights from anywhere in the UK to Crete from November to March.

Thousands of UK expats have made Crete their home, while thousands more own holiday homes in Crete and most travel frequently to the UK, in both summer and winter.

I think it is a great idea. Something has to change and free-online initiative will show low-cost lines the developing-direction!

Agios Georgios

Place which Mary Stuart (novelist who wrote all those famous Merlin stories) described in her Moon-Spinners, 1962. Anyway instead of reading about it i prefer to be there and create my own stories. Agios Georgios - means Saint George,  yes, George the "the dragon slayer." Now however - no knights, no dragons.. Two tavernas, bunch of sunbeds and chill. Besides eating, swimming, etc you can go towards Agios Pavlos, west and look for sea salt, vaporized by the sun, in the rock holes.
Small, hidden beach. Mostly visited by Greeks and also by very curious, determined to find it tourists.

no need to comment. Take a book and enjoy
Luckily, they don't have fresh duck in menu
Typical greek beer snack. Can be healthier and simplier?

Free diving :)

Cliffs open here creating cosy little bay. Pebbles & sand. Calm here even when around is windy
Direction west: challenging coastline for daily picnics, rock-horizontal climbing and escaping from the world

Crete - incredible hospitality

True, true, true!

daily chat

We sit in restaurant, wanna order something,
but hard to communicate in english with a young boy.
He goes away, looking for older brother.
We talk with the brother, order things and meanwhile we see the young one driving a pick up away.
-The big boss - waiter made a joke. - Little shy about his english, but he has still time, he will learn it. Now he's only 14.
-?- we are little surprised - But for driving the car it is not too early?
-Hahahaha, well, we are in Crete!
